We have the pleasure of a lovely courtyard at Mackay Rehab hospital. The Rehab team, patients and families make the most of the courtyard for both therapeutic and relaxation purposes. We frequently pick veges and herbs from the garden for use here too. It’s a fantastic area to practice outdoor mobility, dynamic balance, build strength and exercise endurance, even practice a golf swing. It’s also lovely for family members to visit, with children and pets able to run and play freely.
Thanks to generous donations of materials and labour by Bunnings, the local Men’s Shed, Dr Phoebe Slape and a multitude of patients and families, as well as staff and volunteers, we are having an upgrade and beautification of the courtyard. The work has been ongoing for some time, with a working bee yesterday, installing additional raised mobile garden beds, a water feature and extra gardens. The volunteers will be returning again tomorrow to continue with planting.
We are very grateful to all who have contributed and I know that the courtyard will bring much pleasure and therapeutic benefit to all of our patients and visitors.
